Resume tips

Everyone has a unique way of putting together their own resume. Your resume or CV remains an important part of your personal branding campaign. However, we believe a resume is best kept direct, simple, and concise.

Too many flourishes and graphics do not assist search engines and electronic resume submission. Please click here for more detail.

Following are a few tips on the key information that is generally required from you. It may be best to structure your resume according to these fields.

  • Name in full
  • Address
  • Phone numbers (inc. Skype)
  • E-mail address
  • Visa status (where necessary)
  • Dates of employment
  • Organization name & webpage
  • Brief two line description of organization, its size and revenue
  • Position title
  • Supervisor & No. of supervisees
  • Responsibilities in bullet point form
  • Achievements in bullet point form
  • All education, graduate and high school and years of completion
  • Qualifications and professional memberships
  • Publications
  • Honors & awards
  • Computer skills
  • Interests
  • Notice period
It is important that your most recent 2 to 3 positions, or last 5 to 10 years be in more detail. No resume should really be more than 4 or 5 pages in length unless you are applying for a specific role that requires you to submit more information.
