Regional Community-Based Inclusive Development Advisor

This contributes to increasing access and delivery of services in the fields of healthcare, education, rehabilitation and livelihood development, as well as organisational development of partner organisations.

Purpose of the Role

Reporting to the Senior GlobalCommunity Based Inclusive Development (CBID) Advisor, the Regional Community Based Inclusive Development Advisor (RCBIDA) will provide technical support in disability inclusion and more specifically in CIBD to a portfolio of CBM Country Offices and partners in Africa. This includes enhancing the capacity of key staff and ensuring the quality of programmes in line with CBM’s CBID Initiative Plan.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Implement the CBID Initiative Plan in a selected portfolio of African countries in alignment with other CBID advisors on the continent
  • Contribute to the continuous development and implementation of the CBID Capacity Development & Training programme
  • Provide direct support to CBM Country Offices and partner staff on CBID
  • Conduct CBID assessments on request of Country Offices, the Regional Hub or the CBID Initiative
  • Develop, maintain and disseminate good practice examples and case studies of CBID programmes which can be used for reporting, general communication and advocacy work
  • Participate in the development of CBID proposals for funding opportunities
  • Facilitate evidence-based CBID-practice linked with programmatic interventions (e.g. through collaboration with academic institutions)
  • Support the development and publication of content on CBM’s CBID work across all internal and external communication channels

Skills and Experience

  • At least five years of grassroots community development experience in Africa
  • Knowledge of the domain of disability inclusion
  • Disability-related training/knowledge of inclusive project cycle management
  • Proven experience in facilitation and building capacity through training for different stakeholders
  • Experience in advocacy for inclusion advantageous
  • Willingness to travel extensively across the African continent
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Proactive and result-driven 
  • Professional proficiency in English and French, any additional language skills would be advantageous
