Regional Technical Adviser

Role Objectives

You will adapt WaterAid’s global frameworks and standards to apply them at country-level with the aim of implementing consistent technical standards across all of WaterAid’s work. As well as aiming for robust and stable designs and solutions, they must also be aligned to WaterAid’s rights-based approach, its focus on gender and ways of working with partners.
You will contribute to discussions about WaterAid’s principles and the Agenda for Change principles and behaviours agreed in the WASH sector. You will need to understand government policies and approaches to strengthening the WASH sector so that WaterAid can support their implementation in line with local laws.

About you

You have experience of giving WASH technical advice at national or regional level. Committed to excellence in service delivery which is sustainable and equitable, you know how to influence changes in policy and practice and are able to provide knowledge to the sector. You can write analytically, reviewing programmes, policies and practices with the aim of informing and educating others.

Essentials

We expect you to be able to demonstrate that you are:

  • an innovator: able to improve both service delivery and technical WASH solutions;
  • technically-competent: with a good understanding of global best practice in the sector;
  • an analyst: able to analyse outcomes and the impact of WaterAid’s advocacy and policy influencing work in the region, documenting lessons and good practice;
  • an influencer: able to convince stakeholders inside and outside of the organization.

Location

You can work in any East African Country Programme Office: Ethiopia, Rwanda, Tanzania or Uganda. Kenya is a possibility, though WaterAid do not have a presence in-country.
