The Plastic Solutions Fund (PSF) is an international funder collaborative dedicated to tackling the global crisis of plastic pollution, which impacts the health of people, communities, and ecosystems worldwide. PSF is a fiscally sponsored project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors, Inc. (RPA), a 501(c)(3) organisation, which will serve as the employer for this position.

PSF supports systems-change strategies across the plastics lifecycle — from extraction to disposal — with a focus on building movement power, preventing plastic production, and challenging industry influence. As a core partner of the Break Free From Plastic movement, PSF works to strengthen grassroots leadership and support transformational change globally. Over the coming years, PSF aims to broaden the diversity of civil society organisations and movements it supports while helping build collective power for lasting environmental and social impact.

About the Role

As PSF continues to expand globally, both operationally and through its grant-making activities, the Finance Manager will play a key role in strengthening and overseeing the organisation’s financial management function. This role has been created to ensure that PSF’s resources are managed responsibly and sustainably, in alignment with its values and principles.

Reporting to the Managing Director, the Finance Manager will work closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, fiscal sponsor partners, and finance teams at Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors. The role will oversee financial operations, compliance, reporting, systems development, and grant-making support, while contributing to enhancing policies, procedures, tools, and systems that enable PSF to scale its impact effectively and equitably.

Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate PSF’s financial operations and systems, ensuring sound financial stewardship, operational effectiveness, compliance and accurate reporting across multiple geographies and entities. The Finance Manager will support both operational and grant-making activities by providing high-quality financial analysis, oversight and strategic guidance to internal teams and stakeholders.

The role will also contribute to the design, implementation and continuous improvement of financial policies, systems, procedures and tools in partnership with fiscal hosts and other stakeholders, supporting PSF’s long-term growth and sustainability.

Duties and Responsibilities

Financial Management, Compliance and Internal Control (50%)

• Lead budget development, monitoring and forecasting activities;
• Oversee cash flow management and forecasting in coordination with fiscal hosts;
• Ensure PSF and fiscal sponsor financial policies and procedures are clearly articulated and effectively implemented;
• Maintain and continuously improve internal financial controls and compliance practices;
• Oversee accounts payable and receivable activities;
• Analyse and present accurate and timely financial reports;
• Consolidate financial information across diverse entities and geographies, ensuring compliance and accuracy;
• Liaise with fiscal host finance teams on day-to-day financial operations;
• Support the Managing Director in preparing budgets, financial reports and year-end forecasts for the PSF Board and internal stakeholders.

Grant Making (20%)

• Oversee the preparation of interim and final financial reports for funders and stakeholders;
• Ensure the Program Team has accurate, reliable and timely financial information to support informed grant-making decisions;
• Coordinate with the Outreach team to reconcile and maintain the funders database.

Systems Design and Oversight (30%)

• Lead the development, maintenance and implementation of financial systems, policies, procedures and tools;
• Collaborate with fiscal hosts to enhance finance-related systems and operational processes;
• Provide training and guidance to PSF teams on financial policies, systems and procedures.

Skills and Experience

• Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field;
• ACCA or CPA qualification preferred;
• Proven experience (9+ years) in financial management within nonprofit or philanthropic sectors;
• Experience working with fiscal sponsors and charitable giving vehicles such as donor-advised funds (DAFs);
• Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, compliance, financial reporting and systems;
• Experience managing financial consolidation and reporting across geographically dispersed entities and partners;
• Demonstrated experience contributing to the design and implementation of financial systems, tools and operational processes;
• Excellent numerical, analytical and reporting skills with strong attention to detail;
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, with the ability to communicate effectively across cultures and audiences. Additional languages are advantageous;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional and globally distributed teams;
• Strong alignment with PSF’s values, including equity, justice, inclusion and movement-centred philanthropy;
• Advanced expertise in financial management systems such as NetSuite, as well as Excel, Google Sheets and broader data management tools.

Additional Information

This role will require domestic and/or international travel approximately 3-4 times per year for organisational meetings and partner engagement. The salary range is one component of the total compensation package for employees.

For US-based employees, the benefits package includes 24 weeks of paid parental leave and 12 weeks of paid family leave, administered by Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
