About the Role
The Global Advisor Inclusive Education will provide technical expertise and thought leadership to the entire organisation and partner staff on inclusive education matters. They will direct the integration of standards into planning and operational activity, including accreditation, staffing, etc. The Global Advisor Inclusive Education will be a key resource and advisor to staff in-country, including developing support materials, guides, and publications as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
Programme Development
- Further development of the CBM portfolio in inclusive education within Community Based Inclusive Development (CBID)
- Contribute to and review concept notes, programme, and donor proposals
- Audit selected programmes according to the agreed criteria
- Give input or lead on assessments, planning, monitoring, and evaluation exercises (at partner, country, regional, and global levels)
- Drive relevant innovation and develop model programmes
Capacity Development and Knowledge Development with CBM partners and CBM staff
- Develop standards, policies, guidelines, and tools
- Support regional-level advisors/experts through sectoral expertise
- Be a member of relevant international associations/networks and have a global network
- Support action research related to inclusive education
- Advise and support internal stakeholders such as CBM Regional and Country offices, CBM partner organisations and other technical advisors
Communication, Advocacy, and Alliance work
- Contribute to the development of inclusive education in international development by representing CBM in relevant international alliances and fora and through establishing strong partnerships with national governments and respective ministries
Skills and Experience
- Minimum of master’s degree or equivalent in education, educational psychology, education management, international development, disability studies, or other relevant fields in the context of inclusive education
- Background and minimum of ten years of working experience in Inclusive Education, partly in international cooperation
- Professional experience in a school environment
- Experience in disability-inclusive development
- Experience in networking with governments and key stakeholders
- Experience in designing training and workshops
- Knowledge and understanding of key players and stakeholders in Inclusive Education at the global, regional, and national levels
- Experience and understanding of intercultural contexts and working with intercultural teams
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team (including virtually as well as face-to-face work contexts)
- Ability to produce or contribute to communication materials for different audiences (practitioners, experts, general audience including donors)
- Experience developing strategic plans, policies, or curricula (advantageous)
